ISE Entered for Starnet Worldwide Design Awards 2013–Part III
Congratulations to Interior Surface for one of four 2013 Starnet Design Award submissions for 2013. The third submission is the Smithville High School Performing Arts Center, Smithville, Smithville, Missouri.
According to Starnet, “Sophisticated Style Meets Traditional High School” was the goal for Smithville’s New Performing Art Center. Centiva’s Contour Series Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) was selected to highlight the sophistication of the lobby and hallway areas of this building. Green, the school color was chosen as the main accent throughout this addition.
Designers also incorporated a wide variety of strong neutrals in order to emphasize a feeling of refined elegance. The main design challenge faced in this space was to add visual interest to the long hallways, which was achieved by adding curves to the LVT.
A main focal point on the lobby walls was created by adding a band of beautiful Marazzi Glass Tile to the exposed brick, unifying the old and new spaces of the building.
The auditorium features a non-traditional American Olean Tile as a defined wall below the fabric panels. This choice adds sophisticated ambiance to the space while providing a durable product requiring minimal maintenance. Luxurious high quality American Olean Tile was also used in the restrooms to provide ease of maintenance. The classic styling and elegant design concept has made this project a stunning success.
